Katrina LaSalle Cultural Diversity September 20, 2010 Individuals from different countries, races, and social background come down to the United States to mix together in what is called a â run pot.â The media entertains and offers news to various individuals in different geographic areas, just it also conveys many assorts, beliefs, and values of society to those same individuals. still once stereotypes are eliminated another stereotypes will take place. The word picture that was chosen is Higher nurture. The American Heritage Dictionary defines stereotype as one that is regarded as embodying or conforming to a set image or type (2003). Higher Learning is a 1995 American drama film following the lives of collar incoming freshmen at a fictitious school called capital of South Carolina University. This particular drama examines the personal, political, and racial dilemmas facing the three freshmen. At the beginning of the movie, a young White woman who cargo deck her purse tightly when she finds herself in an elevator with a colored student. The first freshman, Malik is an African American male attending capital of South Carolina on a track scholarship. Fudge is Malikâs admirer and challenges Malikâs views on race and politics in America. The fleck freshmen, Kristen, who is a naïve young woman from California, meets a boy named Billy after both turn out had to much to drink. Kristen presently becomes a victim of date rape and is involved in a feminist group to cope with the experience.
The third freshmen, Remy, is a confused young man who is from Idaho. He lost in the multicultural atmosphere of Columbus. He is approached by a fraction of the skinheads named Scott, who believes that Remy will contribute to the common goals of the group.
