Aimed to provide us the opportunity to be exposed in developing our companionship in Food Technology the speakers made sure that we lead acquire relevant and timely information in the field of operation that we may utilize in preparation for our future, With the theme, Roles and responsibilities of Food Technologists , highly-credible individuals including Ms. Josephine Ignacio….. and Ms. Rachelle Ong-Tan personified themselves on how they work in the industry. The first speaker was Ms. Josephine Ignacio, Project Coordinator of Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines-National Secretariat for Social Action. Even though she didnt work directly as a food technologist on her field she was still able to give us a gist of the social responsibilities of us. Ignacio started her discussion by introducing the situation she has been working(a) on. After she revealed some facts about cracker-barrel poverty, I profoundly realized the urgency of the response we should give to the people lifespan in the rural. I learned that in most of the rural areas, people have lots of agricultural resources but they have little, in some cases lacking, knowledge on how they can utilize and transform them in innovative and marketable food products. So it is a challenge for us on how we can facilitate them in our own way.
