Origins and History
Jainism is an ancient religion, which originates from Eastern India. It began in the 6th one C BC as many people were beginning to equalize the organisation and rituals of Hinduism. (The dominant religion in India.
The word Jain is from the word Jina, which means the one victorious over the self-importance and the orthogonal world. The Jinas do not have one alone(predicate) god but more of 24 Tirthankaras (holy men). The first Tirthankara Mahavira (599-527 BC) is the break of Jainism.

Adherents Worldwide
There argon around 4,000,000 plus followers of Jainism with the majority population based in India and whatever separate populations in the UK, USA, and Europe. However, it should be seen to that most Jains are mistaken as Hindus overdue to similarities in core beliefs.

God - Monotheistic or Polytheistic
Jains are polytheists and pantheists as they believe that every existing being has a potential to become God - they believe in metempsychosis and seek moksha, once a consciousness is liberated its is decent of being labelled a God. However, Jains reject the notion of a creator and do not believe that any external Being can help the soul. This notion has led some to consider Jains as atheists. According to Jain cosmology, the cosmos and everything in it is eternal.



Nothing that exists now was ever created, nor will it be destroyed. The universe consists of three realms: the heavens, the earth and the hells.

Lifes Purposes
The purpose of life is to attain moksha (salvation from the pass of rebirth) by ridding oneself of the karma, which obstructs the soul. One can achieve this by living a life of harmlessness and renunciation in the human cause and by causing no harm to any animate being. If one does not achieve moksha, after death the soul will be reincarnated or will suffer penalization in hell. Hell has 8 levels (each level become increasingly colder).
