Dear Diary,
Its the night before I give my closing argument, in the case of Carl leeward Hailey, and Im so worried. This final statement that I give will decide whether a man gets the gas sleeping room or not. The life of a man, a man with children and a wife, rests in my hands, my unworthy, shaking hands. The prosecutor is trying to make Carl Lee Hailey out as though he is not human, without emotions and feelings, as though he is just another red pitch-dark Negro man. I hope and pray, I pray so hard-fought, that the jurors will stop looking at this case alike its a scandalous mans phrase against a whites. That they dont fancy a violent Negro man that the prosecutor is trying so hard to make my Carl Lee look like, but what they do see is a man whose daughter no longer has a normal life ahead of her. She has been brut on the wholey bashed. Raped by two separate men, one straight after the other, destroying her run across of ever bearing children of her own. Urinated on. Yelled at and called every uncomplimentary name in the human vocabulary. Used as a target practise to throw bear bottles at. Cut. Kicked. Then odd for dead, all on her own, in the bush.
The jurors need to put all prejudice behind them, if not entirely in their lives, if at least in the court, and see that Carl Lee was blinded by anger, hatred and fear on his daughters behalf, so much so that he could not see the consequences of his irrational actions.
I do it what I spend a penny to do though, earlier tonight, I went to encounter Carl Lee and he asked me this questions What would convince you, to set me free? That is what I have to do. First I must convince myself that he should be free. First I must rid myself of all prejudice. First I must treat all people, black or white, with the equality they deserve. Only once I have convinced myself of this, will I be able to convince...If you involve to get a full essay, order it on our website: Ordercustompaper.com
