Belonging is shaped by the attitudes and perceptions of the individual, as hearty as the norms and expectations of society. Although the road to understanding ones individuality element, cost and connection can be a struggle, ultimately we every need to confront the nature of our belong, as a pass on of our inherent and innate desire to feel connected with the initiation and its people. The challenges in coming to terms with ones identity and belonging, and the necessity of this process, are explored in Felix Skrzynecki, Post Card, A Place To Call Home and The Myth Of Belonging Masks Our danger.
A comparison between a strong feel of belonging and confusion over ones identity is made in Skrzyneckis verse Feliks Skrzynecki. The allegory unploughed pace with the Joneses of his own minds making shows how Feliks palpate of identity is closely linked to his individualism. He also finds belonging in his garden, portrayed by the simile loved his garden like an only child, and his dedication is suggested by the overstatement swept its paths ten times around the world. Feliks belongs with his beautify friends, as they reminisced on their experiences and memories which the writer lists. Feliks strong perception of his finish heritage enables him to stand firm against language barriers and stereotypes.
Contrastingly, the visual resource of his fathers Polish friends who always shook give in like manner violently suggests the exclusion of Peter who could not connect to them. Instead, Peter is drifting away from his Polish heritage, through the metaphor pegging my tents further and further south of Hadrians Wall. However, he recognizes that in his fathers self-confidence and contentment is a strong sense of belonging making him happy as I have never been. Feliks attitudes challenge Peters notions of his own identity, for by observing his father, he realizes he too must come to terms with his own belonging.
