Nobody can be happy altogether the time. It is because the incurings that come to everybody’s minds once in a charm are sadness, frustration, or even depression, which causes a person to con the introduction in a dim light. Holden and Antigone start out one thing in common: they both feel alienated within a group of people, but Holden brought the closing off upon himself, while alienation was beset upon Antigone by society.
From the very first base of the play Antigone, Antigone and her sister Ismene appear to be foils and rivals. When Antigone defies Creon by blatantly stating “Him [Polynices] I will bury” (Sophocles 3) she appears to be recalcitrant, impudent, and impulsive, insisting that simply her desires be gratified, refusing to comprehend the set limits.



However, Ismene wholeheartedly declares to Antigone that by inhumation Polynices she is “on a fool’s errand” (4), which reveal her instance to be obedient, understanding and reasonable, thus making her the “good misfire” of the family. Unlike Antigone, Ismene conforms to Creon’s edict, which is marked by her attempt to reject Antigone from committing her seditious act. Ismene is just one of the few people who encumbrance at her, which is one component of society bringing isolation upon Antigone.
Similar to Antigone, Holden Caulfield from The Catcher in the Rye is excluded and victimized from the world around him.
