Shakespeare writes about Verona as a bustling town tucked away in the sit down hills of Italy. The reader would picture the city populated by women eroding long beautiful gowns and men carrying swords; ready to duel at a moments notice. One might depend an old, oversized gothic church in the towns center. While reading this play, Shakespeare envisions the old city of Verona, but in the characterisation, the setting is depicted as the modernistic day Verona Beach. The modern settings array, technology, and character portrayals included in the photo detract from the original brilliance of the play. In the seaside ghetto of Verona Beach, the clothes make the characters seem withal straightforward. For example, Benvolio is always shown in an untied Hawaiian shirt and Tybalt is portrayed sporting a leather jacket. Although the peaceful and tough natures of Benvolio and Tybalt, respectively, are understood immediately, it makes the opening duration highly predictable.

In the play, the readers do not need costumes to bring in the natures of the characters as the story unfolds; they simply figure it out for themselves. The movie depiction takes away the need of thinking and makes the movie too simple, predictable, and boring. As the costumes make movie the characters over-the-top and predictable, the modern technologies consecrate the watchers confused. In Shakespeares play, Friar Lawrence sends Friar John to convalesce Romeo and give him an urgent letter. In the movie version, Friar Laurence mails Romeo and urgent letter.
